Established in 2016, the Sacramento Regional Family Justice Center is a one-stop center for victims of domestic violence, elder abuse, human trafficking, sexual assault and child abuse. All services are free and are offered on a walk-in basis.

For nearly 100 years, United Way California Capital Region has faced the region’s deepest and most urgent needs by bringing people together. Facing a pandemic, economic downturn, deep roots of racial inequality and poverty, the nonprofit’s work has never been more relevant.

Meals on Wheels by ACC (MoW) has adapted its services for the health and safety of participants as well as staff and volunteers during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the past year of great challenges, MoW is still successfully providing meals to thousands of vulnerable seniors.

Despite much attention over many years, Sacramento still struggles with a seemingly overwhelming homelessness epidemic, and CEO of UC Davis Health, Dr. David Lubarsky, has seen its effects firsthand. Tackling the problem head-on, he’s spearheading a plan to address homelessness with an all-encompassing practical and caring approach that would make better use of existing resources.

“Like all schools, we’re fighting a new fight,” says David Perry, president of Cristo Rey High School Sacramento, of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Nonetheless, our students are continuing online with our college-prep curriculum, and our sponsors are continuing their generous support.”

Every year, thousands of the most vulnerable women and children receive the support of food, safety and shelter from the American River Bank Foundation.
