Established in 1996 and now celebrating 30 years in business, Air Systems Service & Construction (ASSC) is a full-service mechanical contracting company providing mechanical, plumbing, controls and architectural sheet metal services from Fresno to Redding and San Francisco to Reno.
Garry Westover founded the company in Rancho Cordova, providing construction services. Over the decades, he opened Concord and Santa Rosa locations and grew his team from a handful to 200-plus employees. In 2024, he passed the leadership torch to his son Connor Westover, who now guides the family business as president.
Having outgrown its Rancho Cordova facilities, ASSC recently relocated to Blue Ravine Road in Folsom with 18,000 square feet of office space and 62,000 square feet of shop and warehouse space.
“Our people have made us everything we are and have enabled us to thrive.”— Connor Westover, President
“As we’ve grown, our office and fabrication shop were operating from separate locations,” says Connor Westover. “Our new Folsom headquarters brings us all back together under one roof and streamlines our operations.”
The company’s business verticals are Construction, delivering ground-up, design/build and design/assist mechanical and plumbing projects for general contractors; Special Projects, performing retrofits, unit changeouts and tenant improvements under their own general contracting license for property owners, property managers and private entities; and Service, maintaining and repairing mechanical and plumbing systems and equipment for commercial customers and property managers. Together, these three business verticals provide continuous support throughout a facility’s lifecycle.
“From a technical standpoint, we take on any water, air, heat or cooling project, while many contractors don’t cover all of those services,” notes Westover. “From a culture standpoint, we’re still a flat organization with family-owned values but can provide everything the bigger companies do.”
Westover says continued investment in people, long-term client relationships and self-performed capabilities has allowed ASSC to grow while maintaining its family-owned culture.
Westover credits success to his team, many of whom have been with ASSC for decades. “Our people have made us everything we are and have enabled us to thrive,” he says.
Settling into the new Folsom headquarters, ASSC will use the extra space to expand its service and project capabilities across all its markets. “We will continue to invest in our people and our core services to keep pace with demand and our growth aspirations for another 30 years of success,” Westover says.
