Visit Stockton has been the driving force behind promoting Stockton tourism since 1979. Working closely with the city’s economic development department, the nonprofit’s primary focus is marketing the city as a destination to leisure travelers, conference groups and sports competitions.
Funded through a tourism business improvement district, Visit Stockton works to bring more leisure, sports and business tourism to town, benefiting local businesses and boosting the economy.
“Collaboration with city departments, local hotels, facilities and other agencies and companies is essential to successfully recruiting events to Stockton,” says Robyn Camino, CEO.
Visit Stockton has helped bring many significant sporting events to town, including the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Regional to The Reserve at Spanos Park golf course this past May, in partnership with the California Collegiate Athletic Association; the annual OTB Open disc golf competition at Swenson Golf Course each spring in partnership with the Professional Disc Golf Association; and a new pickleball tournament this November in partnership with In-Shape Fitness.
“Stockton offers creativity, collaboration and ideal venues for events of any size, and bringing them to town boosts not only our economy but our community pride as well.”— Robyn Camino, CEO
With a strong sports history at the professional, collegiate and youth levels, Stockton offers multiple public and private sports venues, from numerous golf courses to Adventist Health Arena and the Stockton Ballpark. Visit Stockton has recently partnered with Airstream Ventures, a sports tourism development agency helping to promote Stockton nationwide.
“We are now in the process of bidding for several exciting, large-scale, professional events,” notes Camino.
Visit Stockton also works closely with local hotels, meeting and event facilities, University of the Pacific, San Joaquin Partnership, City of Stockton and others to bring business meetings and conferences to an array of venues. As a collective, Visit Stockton helped welcome two successful large events, the SJCOE Codestack Conference and the California Forward Economic Summit, in October 2025 at multiple venues in Downtown.
“Those events are wonderful examples of what Stockton can do for large conferences,” concludes Camino. “Partnering with the City of Stockton, the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel, Legends Global and LAZ Parking pulled it all together seamlessly. Stockton offers creativity, collaboration and ideal venues for events of any size, and bringing them to town boosts not only our economy but our community pride as well.”
