Internationally-Ranked Spoken Word Artist Collective

Back Event May 27 @ 6:30 pm

All City Writers Is Bringing The Stories Of Healing & Humor To You in WordPlay 2!

Sacramento, California – On May 27th, 2023 at 7pm at The Brickhouse Gallery & Art Complex, All City Writers (ACW), a first-of-its-kind Sacramento-based artist collective, is proud to present WordPlay 2, celebrating the creative process and journey of six prominent spoken word voices in the Sacramento-area.

WordPlay 2 is a one-of-a-kind chance to be there as our professional, internationally-touring spoken word artists each build toward their own hour-long solo show, and our showcase will feature performances from established touring artists AndYes, Ike Torres, JRowe, Natachi Mez, Kintessa Quintanar, and Jorge Quintana. Each artist brings their unique experiences and creative perspectives to the stage, resulting in a dynamic, transformative, and accessible experience for diverse audiences.

During the show, attendees will witness 15-minute sets from all six artists as they preview selections of their solo shows in-production, offering insight into their creative process and journeys from development to production. The performances will explore topics ranging from mental illness and childhood trauma to immigration and self-discovery. If time allows, a Q&A session will be had after to hear from the audience and get their thoughts.

“This group started as an experiment,” says founder AndYes. “All I wanted to see was: if we get some of Sacramento’s best spoken word artists in a room to build together, what happens? And so far, it’s been nothing but magic.”

Doors open at 6:30pm on May 27, and the show begins at 7pm. Tickets are available for purchase and be sure to follow All City Writers on Instagram to stay up to date on future events and to show support for this talented group of artists.
