Over the past 50 years, Frank Carson, his wife, Delma, and son Frank Carson Jr., who has worked with the company the past 25 years, have built the ultimate landscape company with Carson Landscape Industries — a business that has set the Greater Sacramento region’s quality standard for full-service landscape maintenance and boasts a 95% client retention rate.
At 19 years old and fresh out of school in 1975, Carson launched his business as Frank Carson’s Gardening Service with one mower, one edger and two clients. Originally, he specialized in the residential landscape market, but within two years had transitioned to focus on the commercial market.
By age 28, Carson hit his first $1 million in sales and had a staff of 30, thanks to his hard work and commitment to quality. “For us, quality truly means attention to detail, commitment and dedication to the process — that’s what sets us apart from our competitors,” he says.
“We’ve set the benchmark in this region as a single-source provider of commercial and high-end residential landscape services …” — Frank Carson, Founder and President
CFO Kathy Pipis has been with Carson for 43 years, just one example from a management team made up of dedicated members with longevity ranging from 10 to 36 years with the company. She says, “Frank has instilled his commitment to quality in his team, so when he’s not immediately present, they are still providing the highest-quality service.”
Today, Carson Landscape Industries employs more than 200 professionals and includes a tree service division, The Grove Tree Care, launched in 2008. “We’ve set the benchmark in this region as a single-source provider of commercial and high-end residential landscape services, specializing in landscape maintenance, landscape renovation, tree care, irrigation, plant health care and interior plant care,” notes Carson.
Carson has carefully selected to partner with Yellowstone Landscape to guide his company into the future. “I chose Yellowstone because they’re committed to maintaining the culture and structure I’ve built and, most of all, they’ll take care of my team,” he concludes. “With Yellowstone, I know the company, the team and our clients are in good hands.”
