A Bite of Design

AIA Experience Architecture

Back Event Oct 21, 2016 @ 2 pm

Curious how restaurants are designed? Here’s your chance to find out!
With its massive open kitchen and vaulted brick ceiling, the 7,600 square foot subterranean Empress Tavern is a restaurant with great food and a fascinating design story.

Join architect Saxon Sigerson, AIA of Sigerson Architects, restaurant owners Robert Emmerick and chef Michael Theiman to learn more about the inspiration, process and challenges faced in the creation of the Empress and how design has shaped and supported the culinary process and dining experience.

Event includes delectable small bites, wine and a tour of the kitchen and adjacent Crest Theatre. Stay after the event for happy hour or dinner!

Experience Architecture is a public-outreach event designed to facilitate greater transparency with the public in how architects create our built environment and how it impacts their daily lives; to create an ongoing dialogue to inform a distinct, regional, architectural identity; and to highlight existing relationships between the region and its architecture. The 2016 event is scheduled from October 20th to October 23rd.
