As a part of AIACV’s Experience Architecture 2020, join us for
this fun sketching activity for children of all ages in
partnership with AIA California
Overview : Sketching is a fun way for children to focus and see
things previously unnoticed in the built environment, and to
better understand the various aspects of architecture, such as
functionality and artistry.
Kid’s Draw was originally created in 1988 by the Architectural
Foundation of Santa Barbara to connect architects with children
and their parents. Now in its 32nd year, AIA Chapters across the
state will be hosting this family-friendly sketching event
virtually for the first time.
California’s acting State Architect, Ida Clair, AIA will
introduce the program and share information on the Capitol
building. AIA Central Valley Chapter President, artist, and
father Chris Holt, AIA will demonstrate sketching techniques and
how to approach sketching the state Capitol Building
specifically. A Vimeo video link and instruction sheet will be
provided to registered participants.

Experience Architecture is a public-outreach event designed by
AIA Central Valley to facilitate greater transparency with the
public in how architects create our built environment and how it
impacts their daily lives; to create an ongoing dialogue to
inform a distinct, regional, architectural identity; and to
highlight existing relationships between the region and its
architecture.
This year’s event runs October 6-11, 2020. Find out more and see
