Founded in 1892, the Kingsley Art Club promotes knowledge and appreciation of art among its members and in the community. Their monthly lectures feature local and regional artists and other arts insiders. Europeans imported expensive porcelain from East Asia until about 1710 when porcelain was developed in Meissen, Germany. Art historian Jeffrey Ruda will show the interplay of technique and design of European tableware and decorative porcelains, including examples from the Crocker Art Museum’s Gilmeister Collection.
