Not sure what to give your Mom (or other special lady in your
life) for Mother’s Day? Start her day by bringing her on a
special hike with us on Saturday, May 9 at 9:00am.
The trail at our Big Hill Preserves has unusual rock formations,
the gently flowing Coon Creek, and spectacular panoramic views of
the Sierra Nevada foothills and Sacramento Valley. These
preserves at Big Hill in North Auburn are a photographer’s
delight. And if we’re lucky – there may still be some wildflowers
in bloom!
Here are some things you’ll need to know:
This is a wilderness outing in a natural setting, so there are no
restrooms, benches, or water available. Please plan ahead and
bring what you will need. We suggest you wear sturdy shoes,
clothing appropriate for the weather conditions, (we suggest long
pants), and a hat and sunscreen. Bring plenty of water and a
brown bag lunch or snacks to enjoy along the way. Don’t forget
your camera!
The hike is approximately 5 miles long, and will take 3 to 4
hours depending on the pace of the group.
Difficulty level: this hike is rated as moderate to strenuous
with uphill and downhill travel, on uneven ground and rough
terrain.
We have a “leave no trace” policy – if you pack it in, please
pack it out.
Sorry, no dogs are allowed on our Preserves.
Participants must sign a release of liability which is available
on the event website. Please print and bring it with you.
We encourage a suggested $10 minimum donation per person for our
hikes. Your donation helps expand our trail system and keeps you
informed of other upcoming events. Or, give a little more and
become a PLT member! We accept cash or checks at the event, or
you can donate online via credit card http://www.placerlandtrust.org/donate/ .
The hike starts in North Auburn. The deadline to sign up
is Noon the Friday prior to the event.
Directions and further information will be emailed after you
complete the
registration form.
