Panel Discussion: Native American Artists in Focus

Back Event Nov 3, 2016 @ 6 pm

In light of critical conversations happening in the United States on social, cultural and political fronts, we are offering a panel series focused on issues like gender inequality, race and ethnicity, wealth, and religion are at play in the arts.

From the contemporary concerns of women and Native American artists, to the historical backdrop of Iberian colonial art, these talks will bring artists and experts together to enhance your understanding of issues beneath the surface of the art on view.

The exhibition “A Show of Force” features the work of Chiricahua Apache artist Allan Houser and offers an opportunity for an in-depth look at Native American artists working today. In a series of brief talks followed by an on-stage conversation, we’ll hear about the incredible work and influences of Allan Houser along with the challenges and triumphs faced by Native American artists today.

Space is limited. Tickets may be purchased online or at the Museum admission desk.
