We welcome you to gather with us for a short presentation on the history of the Golden Rule, her mission, and what you can do to stop nuclear war. After the presentation, enjoy a performance by the 3-piece cello blues band the Freewheelers!
Sacramento born cellist Ilene McHolland started playing Hammond
organ age 3, helped by her parents who had won a California
barbershop choir contest in the fifties. She used to demonstrate
organs at the local music shop, which was the start of her
professional career. She later played in orchestra’s accompanying
the likes of Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis jr., after which she
embarked on a journey to Europe. In Amsterdam, she met Bas
Vossen, who ran a jam session as bass player. Bas had studied
guitar and bass, the latter with a bass player who has backed up
Dana Fuchs, Walter Trout, Snowy White and many others. Bas made a
couple of electric cellos and works on a double neck bass guitar,
while doing all kinds of social work on the side.
