Accounting Manager position

Comstock’s Magazine, named Best Business Magazine and Best Consumer Web Publication, is seeking a knowledgeable Business Manager.

This is your opportunity to become an essential part of the premier business publication for California’s Capital Region, which includes Sacramento and the 9 surrounding counties.

As Business Manager you will oversee most financial aspects of the company, including assisting with business decisions, payroll, HR & office management.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting:

-Financial reporting, cash management

-reconcile banking and credit card accounts

-oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable

-acquiring W9 and processing year end 1099s

-year end sales tax and 401(k) reporting

Payroll:

-Setup new employees

-process semi-monthly payroll (hourly, salaried and commissioned employees)

-process EDD  claims and workers’ comp as needed  

Office management:

-Manage equipment vendors, tech support, etc.

-approve equipment requests and maintain office supplies

Human Resources:

-Maintaining employee files

-new hire onboarding

-tracking vacation and sick time

-work with insurance broker when health and dental plans are up for renewal

-process changes to benefits during open enrollment.  

Key Skills:

-Firm grasp of money management

-Proficiency using QuickBooks, Gmail, Google Docs, Excel, Word

-Understand payroll and its various components

-A basic knowledge of labor laws           

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years accounting experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in managerial role
  • Minimum of two years experience in human resources
  • Business/accounting degree is desired

This is a full-time position and includes benefits and a starting salary of $48,000 – $52,000 annually depending on experience.
