Lamborn Family Vineyards 2007 Yee Haw Vintage Zinfandel, $42:

The nose immediately opens to rich fruit, white pepper and hints of cake batter. The medium toast American oak cooperage accentuates the fruit on the palate, giving rise to juicy and mouth-filling blueberry, dark cherry, caramel apple and a dash of sweet cream. The prototypical Lamborn pepper and spice characters balance with a zestful acidity.

Where to find it:

Morton’s the Steakhouse (mortons.com) in the US Bank Tower on Capitol Mall or at Lamborn Family Vineyards (lamborn.com).

What to eat with this wine:

French, charbroiled, bone-in filet mignon and grilled asparagus.
