“Citizen Kane”

Back Event Apr 23, 2015 @ 7 pm

(1942, 119 Minutes)

“Of Cottages and Castle: The Art of California Faience” features the tiles commissioned by architect Julia Morgan for William Randolph Hearst’s palatial home and grounds in San Simeon. The exhibition offers a welcomed excuse to screen the Academy Award-winning film “Citizen Kane,” directed, produced, co-written, and starring Orson Welles. Recognized as one of the greatest films ever made, “Citizen Kane” is loosely based on the life of William Randolph Hearst, with many scenes featuring the character’s lavish castle, Xanadu. Before the screening, film historian Kristin Anderson Wagner will share insights about the movie and the design of Hearst Castle.

Space is limited, and reserving tickets in advance is recommended. $6 Museum members, $8 students/youth, $10 nonmembers.

Tickets may be purchased at crockerartmuseum.org, at the Museum Admission Desk, or by calling (916) 808-1182.
