Join us for the Placer Land Trust Hike-Geology of the Foothills. Our Big Hill Preserves have unique and unusual rock formations, the gently flowing Coon Creek, and spectacular panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada foothills and Sacramento Valley.

Docents Karl Mertz and Sarah Roeske are trained geologists. Karl is a retired geology professor from Sac State & Sierra College and Sarah teaches and does research at UC Davis with a focus on fault zones. Docent Bob Niblack is a Hydro-geologist who spent many years working for the Department of Water Resources and knows a thing or two about the impacts of drought. These docents have many years of experience and amazing knowledge to share with you.
