Please join the Sacramento Historical Society (SHS), the City and County of Sacramento, the Sacramento Public Library, Sacramento City College (SCC), and the Sacramento Kings, as we proudly invite you to join us at the Golden 1 Center for a kickoff event honoring our Sacramento native-daughter, Joan Didion. This recognition and restoration of Didion to regional and national prominence is part of a larger effort of the Historical Society to work with community stakeholders and you to help bring to life our past, and those who helped shape it. Joan’s legacy of artistically sculptured language with scalpel-focused precision will be presented in quotes, pictures, presentations, and videos. Four Joan Didion sculptures will be unveiled on the floor, the Joan Didion Sacramento City College Scholarship will be spotlighted, and a presentation on elevating the Didion Room to a new, nationally recognized center will be presented.
