Sip, Savor, & Sway Gala Event

Joshua's House Hopsice

Back Dec 7, 2019 @ 6 pm

Join us for an evening of dining, dancing and fellowship
in support of Joshua’s House.

Imagine being homeless as the temperatures go up and down, the rain comes and goes and your backpack with all your ID paperwork and a little cash keeps getting stolen. Then imagine that, at the same time, you are dealing with advanced cancer or heart failure. You are terminally ill, often with no shelter, and your greatest fear is to die, alone, on the streets of Sacramento.

In the Sacramento area, two to four people experiencing homelessness die on our streets each week and about 39% of those men and women die from a terminal illness.

The good news — that’s all about to change – and we invite you to be part of the celebration! Joshua’s House will be a hospice house for 20 terminally ill, homeless residents at a time who will be loved, respected and provided with high quality hospice care in a home-like setting with meals, clothing, companionship, art and music therapy – and it will be the first hospice house for the homeless on the West Coast and the seventh in the country!

Join us in celebrating the opening of Joshua’s House while also honoring all of the many people who made this signature event possible at the “Sip, Savor & Sway” event on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 6-10 pm.

“Sip, Savor, & Sway” is Sacramento’s only Prohibition-Era themed fundraiser and in keeping with the era, the event will be held at the historic Sacramento Masonic Temple. It promises to be a roaring good time featuring delicious food along with era-specific cocktails, wine, beers and artisan spirits.

The highlight of the night will undoubtedly be the Phonotone Orchestra with syncopated dance music of the 20s, 30s and early 40s. Master of Ceremonies, Rob Stewart, (of KVIE’s “Rob on the Road”) promises an evening filled with surprises and fun!

Capital Campaign Co-Chairs, Congresswoman Doris Matsui, Mayor Darrell Steinberg and District 3 City Council Member Jeff Harris will be honored for their support of Joshua’s House along with our other partners and supporters, including the Rotary Club of Sacramento, the Rotary Club of Midtown, and the Rotary Club of Elk Grove.
