Sacramento’s 1st Inaugural Stars Installation and Ceremony was on August 31 on L and 18th streets. The Sacramento Walk of Stars honors national and worldwide accomplishments made by those who call or once called the Sacramento region home. The 2016 Walk of Stars Inductees are: Debbie Meyer, Gregory Kondos, LeVar Burton, Dr. Ernie Bodai and Timothy B. Schmit.

Ken Rudulph, co-host, Good Day Sacramento, CBS 13/31; and LeVar Burton, actor and activist. Burton is an American actor, presenter, director and author best known for his roles in “Roots” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” and as the host of the children’s series “Reading Rainbow.”
Timothy B. Schmit, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, musician, singer and songwriter, best known as the bass guitar player and singer with the Eagles. Schmit recently released a new solo album, Leap of Faith, in September. He grew up in the Arden Arcade area of Sacramento and attended Encina High School, American River College and Sacramento State.
Lucy Eidam Crocker, partner, Crocker and Crocker; and Gregory Kondos, Visual Artist. Kondos is a prominent California landscape artist with work hanging in galleries around the world. He was elected to the National Academy of Design and honored with the International Biennial Lifetime Achievement Award. He’s lived in Sacramento for 90 years and graduated from Sacramento State.
Debbie Meyer, Olympic athlete. Meyer is a three-time Olympic gold medal champion who was the first woman to win three individual freestyle swimming Olympic gold medals. Her 48-year-old record went unchallenged until swimmer Katie Ledecky tied it this year at the Rio Olympics. She’s lived in Carmichael for many years and has taught swimming to countless students at her swim school there.
Dr. Ernie Bodai, surgeon and advocate. A noted cancer surgeon and founder of the breast cancer research stamp that has sold more than one billion stamps and raised more than $90 million for research, Dr. Bodai is set to introduce the first-ever “global stamp” to raise breast cancer awareness and funding. He currently directs the Breast Health Center at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento.
