Holt of California is proud to celebrate 95 years serving Northern and Central California, with roots tracing back to the founding of Marysville Tractor & Equipment in 1931 and Holt Bros. in 1939. Those two family-owned businesses built their reputations on hard work, integrity and customer service before joining together in 1998 to form Holt of California.
Originally established as Caterpillar dealers serving the agriculture and construction industries, both organizations shared a common purpose: helping customers succeed. That commitment remains at the heart of Holt today as the company continues to evolve to meet changing customer needs.

The company’s history is deeply connected to the families who built it. Ryan Beatie’s heritage includes Marysville Tractor founder Daniel Beatie and successors Ken and Gordon Beatie, while Holt Bros. was founded by Parker and Harry Holt. Following the 1998 merger, Gordon Beatie and Victor Wykoff selected Ken Monroe to lead the combined organization. Today, Monroe serves as CEO while Ryan Beatie represents the next generation of leadership as President.
From its early roots in Marysville, Pleasant Grove, Santa Maria and Stockton, Holt of California has expanded to better serve customers throughout Northern and Central California. Today, the company operates multiple facilities across its Construction & Technology, Rental, Power & Energy, Material Handling and Ag businesses, providing the equipment, expertise and responsive service customers rely on.
What began with seven employees has grown into a team of more than 900 dedicated professionals whose work helps customers build infrastructure, produce food, generate power, move goods and strengthen the region’s economy.
