As a multi-disciplinary design firm, Mackenzie provides a holistic suite of services including architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, structural engineering, civil engineering and land use planning. Though immersed in multiple markets, from advanced technology to multifamily residential, the company’s foundation has been in the industrial sector for its 60-year history.
“Our expertise is very broad,” says Scott Moore, associate principal and co-lead for Mackenzie’s industrial division. “We are a fully integrated design and engineering firm, therefore we approach projects from multiple angles with tight collaboration, from a long-range planning and site development aspect to specifics around civil engineering, structural engineering or architectural design. We have fine-tuned the capabilities of all our professionals within the engineering and design space to deliver high-quality industrial design projects for every client.”
Industrial architecture spans advanced manufacturing, warehouse/logistics, heavy industrial and flex-industrial, and Mackenzie has decades of experience delivering projects in every category. Every building must be designed and built to suit the client, whether an owner-occupier with purpose-specific requirements or an industrial developer needing a building on spec to potentially lease or sell.
“The growth we’ve experienced since we’ve been in Sacramento has been tremendous and we’re looking to capitalize on that and add to the fabric of the region.” — Scott Moore, Associate Principal, Mackenzie
“There are a myriad of shapes, sizes and complexities to industrial projects and ideally, buildings are designed to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of users over years and even decades,” says Brett Conway, Mackenzie associate principal and architect. “That flexibility is what enables businesses to optimize the use of those buildings and to ultimately grow and succeed.”
Headquartered in Portland with several offices in the Pacific Northwest, Mackenzie established a Sacramento office in 2025. The company has been contributing to and delivering projects throughout the Greater Sacramento region for nearly 20 years.
“While we’ve physically located in the Sacramento market very recently, our presence in the region has been decades in the making,” says Moore. “Sacramento became an obvious choice for us due to business relationships we had already established and the entrepreneurial spirit of community development in the area. The growth we’ve experienced since we’ve been in Sacramento has been tremendous and we’re looking to capitalize on that and add to the fabric of the region.”
