CRISTO REY HIGH SCHOOL

Faithfully Serving Students and Families

Back Sponsored Apr 26, 2024

Cristo Rey High School in Sacramento has faithfully served students and their families since 2006. The fully accredited, Catholic, college preparatory high school focuses on educating the whole person — each student’s mind, body and soul.

Fr. Christopher Calderón, S.J., president of Cristo Rey, says the school seeks to transform its students into faith-filled, educated, professional and service-oriented people.

“I, along with every employee of Cristo Rey High School, see our work as part of our calling to serve our students and their families humbly, generously and passionately. We’re not called to learn so we can one day work. We are called to be educated and formed so that we can thrive,” Calderón says.

“We’re not called to learn so we can one day work. We are called to be educated and formed so that we can thrive.”
— Fr. Christopher Calderón, President of Cristo Rey

For the last three years, Cristo Rey has been one of the top six of 100 schools in the Sacramento area for University of California acceptance rates. Since the school’s beginnings in 2006, over 1,300 students have graduated, most of whom are the first in their families to graduate from high school and be admitted to a college or university. This is due largely to Cristo Rey’s innovative work-study program, where students have the opportunity to work in a variety of hospitals, law firms, private businesses and nonprofits across the Greater Sacramento region.

“I believe that we are the only high school in all of Sacramento where students are impacting professional settings the way we
do. As our students are learning skills in those spaces, they are
also influencing the hearts and the work of everyone from CEOs
to employees,” says Calderón.

“Those who support us, either through our work-study program or philanthropically, do so because they believe in us and want to be part of our mission to transform the minds and hearts of young people who yearn for opportunities but too often are unable to access them because of financial limitations,” Calderón adds.

If you would like to learn more and join Cristo Rey High School in these efforts, please visit their website www.crhss.org, or call to plan a visit at 916-733-2660.

Cristo Rey High will host its primary fundraising event, the Rey of Hope Scholarship Celebration, on Friday, May 3. Details can be found on their website.
