For over 40 years, HeartLand Child & Family Services has fielded a mental health team devoted to “Doing Whatever It Takes” to support children, youth and their families as they cope with life stressors and strive to achieve resilience and wellness. With mental health centers located across Sacramento County in the Del Paso Heights, Arden Arcade, and Little Saigon neighborhoods, HeartLand serves about 850 children, youth and their families each month.
“Our leadership team is the heart of our organization, exemplifying our mission and values,” says Deborah Hicks, Director of Employee and Community Development. “We are proud to recognize and feature the Women in Leadership from HeartLand’s executive team.”
“Our work culture fully embraces diversity, equity and inclusion, emphasizing the qualities of kindness, empathy and support, and striving for continuous improvement — all of these work together to provide an experience of hope and inspiration for both our clients and our staff,” Hicks continues.
Meghan Reedy, Associate Director of Clinical Services, says HeartLand’s motto “Doing Whatever It Takes,” is what they live by. “We think creatively about the best ways to support youth and their families. HeartLand is a name trusted in our community, a safe space for the youth and families in our neighborhoods.”
“At HeartLand, we are united in our compassionate commitment to working together in support of wellness for our community.” — Amanda Lynch, Associate Director of Advocacy and Outreach
Leading from the heart is what Amber Ruiz, Associate Director of Clinic Operations, says the HeartLand culture fosters. “Team building, transparency and respect create the foundation for a vibrant organization where staff do their very best,” she adds. “Although the work is often challenging, staff genuinely love what they do.”
“Community mental health is truly a place that allows us to make a change in our community — the community that we live in, too,” says Karen Thompson, Associate Director of Collaborative Services.
