In 1975, California native Frederick Harrison Giles saw a problem that few others noticed: the long-term damage that water and vapor could cause to concrete. So he founded The Moxie International, Inc., a company focused on solving that problem. His mission was simple — develop products that waterproof and vapor-proof concrete from the inside out.
Today, 50 years later, Moxie remains rooted in the Sacramento region but operates on a much larger scale. The company now offers 10 specialized products that protect not just concrete, but a range of masonry materials — brick, mortar, grout, plaster, stucco, stone and more.
Its technology is trusted across sectors: hospitals, wastewater treatment plants, K–12 schools, universities, fish hatcheries, multifamily housing, hotels, bridges and other critical infrastructure. Most recently, Moxie was selected for a massive eight-year, $15 billion project with Micron Technologies in Boise, Idaho, helping to build one of the largest semiconductor facilities in the country.
“We’ve never lost sight of what my grandfather started,” says Michael Davis, managing director and third-generation leader of the company. Michael runs Moxie alongside his mother, Turia Davis, his wife, Linda, and their seven sons — making the company a true family business in both spirit and operation.
“The first 50 years was just a warm up. Our aim is to have over 100 dealers representing the Moxie brand internationally. We are excited to build the company alongside a multigenerational

“We are actually just getting started,” says Davis. “The first 50 years was just a warm up. Our aim is to have over 100 dealers representing the Moxie brand internationally. We are excited to build the company alongside a multigenerational family like ours.”
Though the product line has evolved, the philosophy has stayed the same: focus on durability, sustainability and protection from the inside out. Moxie’s solutions help extend the life of buildings and infrastructure while reducing long-term maintenance and environmental impact.
After half a century of quiet, effective innovation, Moxie’s work can be found in places most people will never see — deep inside the foundations and structures that shape our lives. And that’s exactly how they like it.
