“Placer County has one of the best qualities of life, anywhere,” says Auditor-Controller Andrew Sisk. “It is exciting to see the investments in growth and future development and economic development throughout the region. This could not happen without our partners.”
The board of supervisors has worked diligently to advance important, high-profile projects like the Placer Parkway, which will improve transportation, and fund critical infrastructure in the Placer One specific plan area. The county has been working with a variety of partners like PG&E, Placer County Water Agency, Thunder Valley Casino and Resort and Western Placer Waste Management Authority to make Placer Parkway and the related infrastructure needs a reality.
These efforts will provide opportunities such as the Sacramento State Placer Center and Sierra College Campus, which will include a state-of-the-art forensics crime laboratory. Nearby, the county, in partnership with Sierra College, Western Placer Waste Management Authority and local fire and law enforcement agencies, plans to build a Regional Public Safety training center, a 50-acre facility to train current and future public safety officers.
“These investments and partnerships will create jobs, provide educational opportunities and support public safety for generations to come.”— Andrew Sisk, Auditor-Controller
“These investments and partnerships will create jobs, provide educational opportunities and support public safety for generations to come,” says Sisk.
The Auditor-Controller, as the chief bookkeeper for Placer County, emphasizes transparency and accuracy. The county’s finance committee — comprised of the Auditor-Controller, County Executive Officer and the Treasurer-Tax Collector — provides recommendations to the board of supervisors on how to finance critical capital projects. The Auditor-Controller annually prepares a set of financial statements that illustrate the county’s financial position, strategic plan and relevant policies that guide decision-making. The financial statements also contain numerous financial disclosures that discuss many of the partnerships and the county management of long-term liabilities. As a result, Placer County has one of the strongest credit ratings in the State of California.
The Auditor-Controller also submits the audited financial statements, the annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR), to the Government Finance Officers Association to obtain the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This prestigious award recognizes conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government financial reports. The Auditor-Controller was recently notified that they have received the award for the 25th consecutive year!
