RIVER VALLEY COMMUNITY BANK

LOCAL ROOTS, LASTING IMPACT - RIVER VALLEY'S MISSION IN ACTION

Back Sponsored Jul 1, 2025

In an era dominated by digital banking and faceless transactions, River Valley Community Bank is proving there is still a powerful place for personal connection and community commitment. The bank’s recent expansion into Roseville is not just about opening another branch — it’s about planting roots in a new neighborhood, supported by a team of veteran bankers ready to grow alongside the people and businesses they serve. For River Valley Community Bank, each new branch represents a thoughtful expansion of its existing footprint focused on its mission of helping to build local organizations into local success stories.

River Valley Community Bank traces its origins to 2006, when a group of local leaders and businesspeople in Yuba City recognized the need for a bank that would put community at the heart of everything it did. With a vision for personalized service and local decision-making, the founding team set out to build a financial institution that would be a true partner for its customers, not just a place for transactions. That spirit of connection and care remains at the core of the bank’s mission as it continues to expand, bringing its signature blend of trust, service and local engagement to new communities and generations.

“The Roseville branch complements and enhances our current footprint. By staying close to our existing branches and leveraging our established talent pool, we’re able to bring our solution oriented approach to Roseville and deliver consistent, personalized banking that truly understands and meets the needs of the customers we serve.”— John M. Jelavich, President and CEO

The expansion into Roseville is a natural next step for River Valley Community Bank, which has grown from a single branch in Yuba City to five locations across the region. The decision to expand was driven by a desire to serve more clients with the same level of personalized service that has become the bank’s hallmark. The bank’s focus has always been on serving businesses, nonprofits and other organizations, with a special emphasis on its impact in the community. Employees are actively involved with nonprofits, community activities, volunteerism and local initiatives, reinforcing the bank’s role as a community cornerstone. This commitment is reflected in the bank’s strong reputation and numerous accolades, which recognize its focus on client success, exceptional service and tailored business banking solutions.

“We’re excited for the opportunities that the Roseville market presents and more so about the team we have assembled,” says Steve Berry, head of commercial banking. “They are passionate about client service and adept at delivering value-added solutions.”

The Roseville Team: Andrew Tagg, SVP | market manager, brings extensive experience in relationship banking and a deep understanding of the local business landscape, making him an ideal leader for the Placer County market. Rob Gutowsky, SVP | relationship manager, provides continuity and in-depth knowledge of the bank’s comprehensive service offerings and an emphasis on commercial real estate financing. Kristen Holihan, VP | relationship manager, specializes in deposits and treasury management, ensuring seamless client delivery and product expertise. Steve Martinez, VP | business development officer, offers valuable insight in commercial lending and business development. Kyle Petrucelli, VP | commercial banker, rounds out the commercial team with his focus on commercial and industrial lending. Larisa Sommer, AVP | branch manager, will lead the Roseville branch operations team focused on exceptional client service.

“Our team is committed to exceeding our clients’ expectations,” says Luke Parnell, EVP and chief credit and lending officer. “Recently, we successfully resolved a client’s payroll issue on a bank holiday, ensuring that 70 employees received their pay on time. Our proactive approach sets us apart; we take pride in being accessible and supporting our clients, no matter the circumstance.”

As the bank continues to grow, its mission remains unchanged: to be relentlessly focused on client success, exceptional service and making clients’ lives a little bit easier, even when the unexpected happens. By focusing on relationships, trust and local prosperity, River Valley Community Bank is redefining what it means to be a local bank. For customers, this means having a partner who truly cares about their financial well-being and the health of their community. For the bank, it means the opportunity to make a lasting difference — one relationship, one local organization, one community at a time.
