Shriners Children’s Northern California in Sacramento is one of the nation’s leading providers of highly specialized care for patients requiring treatment for a broad range of orthopedic and neuro-musculoskeletal conditions. Now for the first time, they are offering world-class care at a new satellite clinic in Folsom, the first of a number of planned community-based facilities.
“We’re excited to spread the word about our Folsom Clinic and eager to see more patients at this new convenient facility.”—Dr. Amanda Whitaker, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon
The Shriners Children’s Folsom Clinic opened March 19, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 26. Open Mondays and Thursdays each week, growth is expected as demand increases. Physicians and advanced practice providers serving the Folsom Clinic also maintain schedules at the main Shriners Children’s facility in Sacramento, smoothly integrating the services at both locations.
“We’re pleased to offer the chance for patients and families to see us now in Folsom, which for so many residents of the Greater Sacramento region will be closer to home and easier than traveling into Sacramento,” says Amanda Whitaker, M.D., pediatric orthopedic surgeon. “Need for our services has expanded and now our structure is expanding to help meet that need. We’re committed to serving as many children as possible.”
The new clinic will enable Shriners Children’s physicians and other clinicians to perform examinations and assessments in a more timely manner — a key component to successful outcomes for patients. It will also reduce stress for families, providing initial contact and a quicker path to follow-up treatment.
Located on Creekside Drive, the Folsom Clinic offers six large exam rooms well equipped to handle orthopedic and sports injury patients and their mobility requirements. Basic and advanced imaging services are available near the clinic. Appointment scheduling in Folsom may even have patients seen quicker than at the main hospital.
“We’re excited to spread the word about our Folsom Clinic and eager to see more patients at this new convenient facility,” says Whitaker. “We’re also looking forward to integrating into the community so the Shriners Children’s name and reputation for excellence will be closely associated with Folsom as well as Sacramento.”
