About two years ago, the team at Sacramento-based Carson Landscape Industries overhauled nearly 10,000-square-feet outside the entrances to 3 office buildings on Creekside Oaks Drive in Natomas. The original landscape materials, selected by a Bay Area designer, were suited for a cooler, coastal climate, and the plants failed to thrive in the Northern California heat.
Under the guidance of property manager Laurie Melson, Carson Landscape selected yellow-blade flax, variegated tinkerbell agapanthus, vinca minor and an assortment of other evergreens that would provide continuous color for the office complex.
The new flora offers consistent foliage year-round, and the addition of bark and mulch as groundcover helps retain moisture and soil nutrients, reducing the amount of water needed and keeping the plants nourished and healthy.
