On June 20 The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society held it’s annual Man & Woman of the Year Awards at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The Man & Woman of the Year campaign is an annual 10-week fundraising competition between community leaders united by one goal, to use their leadership skills to raise funds to help blood cancer patients live longer and more fulfilling lives. 

Comstock’s held a VIP Customer Appreciation on night on June 23, beginning with food and libations at the always terrific Tequila Museo Mayahuel Restaurant, and then followed by watching dinosaurs chew people to bits in the latest installment of the Jurassic Park series: Jurassic World in 3D on the 6-story Esquire IMAX screen.

June 5 marked Sarta’s 12th annual TechEdge Celebration, the region’s largest gathering in honor of our technology sector. As always, TechEdge delivered thought-provoking and inspirational keynote speakers and the most current and comprehensive view of our region’s entire tech sector.

The Sacramento Host Committee and California Chamber of Commerce celebrated the 90th Annual Sacramento Host Reception on May 27 at the Sutter Club and Breakfast on May 28 at the Sacramento Convention Center at Sutter Club.

The 5th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes benefiting WEAVE was a record-breaking effort, exceeding the organization’s #1000MenStrong goal.

Shelter from the Storm Breakfast was held on April 30 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Sacramento. It is an annual fundraiser for Volunteers of America which was founded in 1896. The event raised money for housing and employment services to the most vulnerable in our community.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Greater Sacramento Area Chapter held a record breaking Students of the Year campaign this year with over $131,000 raised and two pairs of students that won the Top Fundraiser Recognition Awards! The event was held on May 9 at Niello Mini, Sacramento.

I know how to do Sacramento weekends right — it’s sort of a point of pride. 

Hosted by Region Builders and Citrus Heights Mayor Sue Frost, the Regional Leadership Council event highlighted leaders from the 6-county region and topics of economic importance.

The 19th Annual Komen Sacramento Race for the Cure was held on May 9 at Cal Expo. Thousands gathered to celebrate our community’s breast cancer survivors and pay tribute to those that lost their battles – raising funds and awareness and bringing us one step closer to a cure.
