Rob Reis, DataSafe’s COO and founder’s grandson, answers records management questions as DataSafe celebrates its 70th anniversary.

What current challenges do records managers face?

They face increased compliance requirements in maintaining records, so we help clients understand the regulations and how to meet them. Another challenge is cost-efficient access to stored records. Real-time access is critical these days, and our electronic processes make stored records available when needed.

How has technology affected records management?

There’s a shift from storing in paper and retrieving records in paper form to storing original paper documents, but retrieving them in various digital formats. We also see many clients using our traditional tape rotation service while also storing mission-critical data with our Cloud Solution.

What can DataSafe do for businesses that competitors can’t?

We customize solutions for individual clients, with a dedicated sales representative for every client. We also offer a data breach reporting service which helps determine if a suspected data breach is reportable, which authorities must be notified, and helps with reporting to those authorities in a timely manner.
