The Women of Sacramento held a Women in Power brunch Jan. 27 at the Grand in downtown Sacramento. The event featured nearly 400 attendees, multiple female powered exhibitors, and a chance to network and mingle. The Women of Sacramento is a community where women of all ages connect, empower each other and thrive.

San Joaquin Board of Supervisors held their annual holiday gathering Dec. 5 at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton. Supervisors along with San Joaquin County department heads enjoyed a live performance by the Stockton Chorale during dinner.

Christmas Wreath-Laying

RememberAVet.net held its annual Christmas Wreath-Laying on Dec. 15-16 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon. Volunteers laid 23,000 wreaths on the graves of every fallen veteran at the site. RememberAVet.net is committed to ensuring that each grave site at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery is recognized and honored with a Christmas wreath during the holiday season.

Hope Cooperative Ribbon Cutting

Hope Cooperative, formerly TLCS held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open Possibilities, Hope Cooperative’s new program for transition-age and homeless youth, on Dec. 10  at the new facilities on Del Paso Blvd.  Hope Cooperative’s Possibilities program is in partnership with Wind Youth Services and will serve 30 youth each year who come directly from homelessness.

Swearing-In Ceremony: Mayor Xóchitl Rodriguez

The City of Woodland held a swearing-in ceremony for the new Mayor Xóchitl Rodriguez on Dec. 4 at the Woodland Community and Senior Center. Rodriguez is the first woman to hold the position since 1998. Rodriguez is replacing Enrique Fernandez.

2018 ATHENA Awards

Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce

The Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce presented the 2018 ATHENA Award to Occeletta Briggs, a nurse who retired from San Joaquin General Hospital, on Nov. 15 at the historic Stockton Golf & Country Club. The annual ATHENA Award honors accomplished leaders who have demonstrated support for the advancement of business and professional women, have devoted time and energy to their community, and have actively mentored others.
