The Midtown Association held its annual Midtown Love event at Faces Nightclub on May 17 in Sacramento. Approximately 400 attendees enjoyed mermaids, dance performances and a lip sync battle at the showcase for Sacramento’s vibrant urban core.

Swish and Swirl
Presented by The Sacramento Kings and Bogle Vineyards
Bogle Vineyards hosted the inaugural Swish and Swirl wine-pairing dinner, featuring Sacramento Kings player Doug Christie, on May 5. The event raised over $20,000 for local charities, including: Habitat for Humanity, Positive Coaching Alliance – Sacramento, Rotary Club of Roseville, Sacramento Food Bank, Sacramento SPCA and Shriners Hospital for Children.

Oak Park Speaker Series: Roland Martin
The Oak Park Speakers Series (OPSS), in partnership with St. HOPE’s Underground Books and the Greater Sacramento Urban League, held a VIP reception for the first part of four part lecture series at The Guild Theatre in Oak Park on May 9. The speaker series will feature some of the most prominent African American leaders in the nation.

Impact Venture Global Summit
Impact Venture Capital held the Impact Venture Global Summit at the Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento on May 8. The summit featured a special luncheon led by California Women Lead, 60 startup booths, five stages for panel discussions, startup pitches and keynote speeches throughout the day.

Broker of the Year Award
The Association of Commercial Real Estate, held the annual Broker of the Year Awards at the Hyatt on April 5 in Sacramento. These distinguished awards are presented annually to brokers who have achieved outstanding brokerage results in eight categories: industrial, office, retail, investments (non-apartment), land, multi-family, rookie of the year, broker of the year and broker’s choice.

SACOG Regional Futures Forum
Sacramento Area Council of Governments held the Futures Forum event at the Milagro Center in Carmichael on April 30. The event included a keynote address from Amy Liu, vice president and director of the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings Institute. Regional city officials and community members gathered to hear the Brookings report on the Sacramento region’s economy.

Unity Ball
Greater Sacramento Urban League
The Greater Sacramento Urban League held the Unity Ball at the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento on April 26. The annual Unity Ball is a special event where community leaders come together to celebrate the Urban League’s accomplishments and impact while raising critical funds to support the important programs that help underserved youth and adults achieve economic self-reliance.

Sacramento SPCA Doggy Dash
The Sacramento SPCA held the 25th annual Doggy Dash at William Land Park on April 28 in Sacramento. The event is the largest dog 2k/5k walk and festival event in Northern California. Funds raised at this event provide medical care to sick or injured animals, low cost vaccinations and spay/neuter services for the local community, behavior training and humane education programs.

Woodland State of the City
The Woodland Chamber of Commerce Annual State of the City Luncheon was held on April 11 at the Woodland Community Center. Mayor Enrique Fernandez gave city updates and attendees enjoyed a meal by Cracchiolo’s Market & Catering. It was a zero waste event.

Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce 37th annual golf tournament
The Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce held its 37th annual golf tournament at Elkhorn Golf Club in Stockton on April 9. The event was followed by a post tournament party, raffle and awards ceremony.
