
2017 Jessup Gala
The 2017 Jessup Gala was held Oct. 1 at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento. The gala raised funds for student scholarships at William Jessup University in Rocklin, the Sacramento region’s only Western Association of Schools and Colleges-accredited, private four-year Christian university.

Race for the Arts
The 19th annual Race for the Arts was held on Aug. 27h at William Land Park. Race for the Arts is a nonprofit organization that raises funds and awareness, and increases audiences for California nonprofit performing, literary, cultural and visual arts organizations, along with school music, literary, drama and art programs.

Jeans and Jerseys Youth Sports Awards
On August 29th, Positive Coaching Alliance held the 2017 Jeans and Jerseys Youth Sports Awards at Sacramento State to highlight community members, coaches and athletes throughout the Sacramento region.

Life on Sacramento’s Urban Farms
The Sacramento region’s urban farming movement keeps growing and growing, but the two farms that started it all — Soil Born Farms and Yisrael Family Urban Farm — remain the hub of the activity. Both farms focus on education as critical to expanding the movement even more, and giving residents old and young the know-how and tools to grow their own food.

State of Agriculture: Crushing It
Sacramento Metro Chamber
On Aug. 3, The Sacramento Metro Chamber hosted “Crushing It: How the Wine Industry is Influencing Agriculture,” as part of their annual State of Agriculture series, at the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento. The event featured a moderated panel discussion, keynote address from John Aguirre, president of CA Association of Winegrape Growers and wine tasting from the region’s favorite wineries.

Sacramento Pride Awards
Sacramento LGBT Center
On Aug. 30, the Sacramento LGBT Community Center hosted their annual Pride Awards fundraiser at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria in Sacramento. This year 5 individuals were honored as local champions of the LGBT community. The Pride Awards is the biggest fundraiser for the Sacramento LGBT Community Center, whose mission is to create a region where LGBTQ people thrive.

The Wall Ball – Outside the Lines Party for Arts Education
On Aug. 19, the Wide Open Walls mural festival held the inaugural Wall Ball at the 14th Street Warehouse. The mural festival, which launched on Aug. 10, saw over 50 artists put up over 40 murals throughout Sacramento.

Comstock’s Client Appreciation
On August 9, Comstock’s magazine held their quarterly client appreciation night at Mulvaney’s B&L. Clients were treated to a pre-show dinner and reception.

Alliance for Women in Media
August Luncheon
On Aug. 16, the Alliance for Women in Media held their August luncheon at Arden Hills Resort Club and Spa, in Sacramento. Mike Testa, CEO of Visit Sacramento, joined Wes Rhea, CEO of Visit Stockton, for a panel on city identity, attracting new business and becoming a tourist destination. Alliance for Women in Media is the oldest professional association dedicated to advancing women in media and entertainment in the nation; the Sacramento chapter was established in 2012.

Summer Solstice Dinner and Auction
American River Parkway Foundation
On June 24, more than 300 guests and volunteers gathered for the third annual Summer Solstice Dinner & Auction, to benefit the American River Parkway Foundation. Proceeds supported the Parkway Foundation’s programs and efforts to maintain and improve the American River Parkway, including a portion dedicated to youth STEM education through the Campfire Outdoor Education Site.
